Privacy at Lanyard
We collect very little, we never sell it, and you can have it deleted any time by emailing hello@joinlanyard.com.
Last updated 13 October 2026
Lanyard is a company in formation. Until it is incorporated, the waitlist is run by its founders, Blake Carter and David Criss. When the company is formed it will take over this policy and the data described here, and we will update this page.
What we collect
| What | Why | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Your email address | To hold your desk and tell you when Lanyard opens | You type it in |
| What you're starting, for example recruitment | To open the right desks first and send you relevant updates | You pick it |
| Which link brought you here | To know which of our posts and partners work | The page you came from, or a tag in our link |
| Your desk number and sign up time | To keep the waitlist in order | Created when you join |
| Basic technical data, such as IP address and browser | To run the site, stop abuse and keep it secure | Your browser, automatically |
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not build profiles of you.
Zara, our AI receptionist
Zara is an AI generated avatar, not a real person. She speaks lines we have written. She does not use your microphone or camera, and she does not hear or see you. Her video is streamed by our avatar provider, Anam, which receives the text she speaks and technical connection data needed to stream to your browser. We do not record these sessions.
Who helps us run the site
We use a small number of providers to operate Lanyard. They process data only to provide their service to us.
- Supabase stores the waitlist, on servers in the United States.
- Netlify hosts the website.
- Anam streams Zara's video.
- Google Fonts and esm.sh deliver the site's fonts and code, which means they receive your IP address when the page loads.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
Emails from us
We only email you about Lanyard opening and launch updates. Every email will have a way to unsubscribe, or you can just reply and ask.
How long we keep it
We keep your waitlist details until you ask us to delete them, or for 24 months after you join if Lanyard has not opened by then, whichever comes first.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you,
- correct it,
- delete it,
- stop emailing you.
Email hello@joinlanyard.com from the address you signed up with. We will reply within 30 days. If you live in California or another US state with a privacy law, these are your rights under that law too, and we will never treat you differently for using them.
Keeping it safe
The waitlist can only be added to from this website. It cannot be read from it. Only the founders can view it, after signing in.
Children
Lanyard is for adults starting a business. It is not meant for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change matters, we will email the waitlist.
